Director

Professor Sharon Goldfeld is a paediatrician and Director of the Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH)- a strategic collaboration between Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) and the Royal Children's Hospital. She is also Director of Population Health at the MCRI and co-Group leader of Policy and Equity.

She has a decade of experience in state government as a senior policymaker in health and education, including serving as Principal Medical Advisor in the Victorian Department of Education and Training.

Drawing on her experience as a policymaker, public health researcher and paediatrician, Professor Goldfeld has spent her career translating research into service delivery, practice and policy that can eliminate inequities in the health and development of Australia's children. This includes the initial work to establish the now ongoing Australian Early Development Census and establishing the Headline Indicators for Australia’s Children. She is currently chairing the National Child and Family Hubs Network, along with leading numerous research and evaluation initiatives, including Changing Children's Chances, Restacking the Odds and Healthier Wealthier Families.

She has authored over 242 research publications, 46 reports for state and national governments including several book chapters. Since 2002, she has secured nearly AUD $127 million in competitive research funding in Australia and internationally.

A sought-after keynote speaker and presenter, Professor Goldfeld's expertise in child health policy, equity and research translation has been recognised nationally and internationally through invitations to policy roundtables and high-level advisory committees for governments and Ministers of Health, Education and Social Services.  She currently chairs the International Scientific Advisory Committees for the Mohn Centre for Children’s Health and Wellbeing (Imperial College London) and the Leong Centre for Healthy Children (University of Toronto and the Hospital for Sick Kids).
